Is this clause fair?
Paste one clause from the subcontract the builder sent you. In a few seconds you'll know what it actually does, whether it's market standard or a red flag, and what to ask for instead.

The clauses worth pasting first
If you only check a few, check the ones that decide whether you get paid: the payment clause (how many days, and from when), set-off (can the builder deduct without notice, or from other jobs), liquidated damages (the daily rate and whether there is a cap), notices and time bars (does missing a deadline kill the claim), and any release you have to sign before final payment.
Each of these is tracked across real Australian subcontracts in the Australian Subcontract Index, so the answer can tell you how your clause compares with the market.
Common questions
What kind of clauses can I check?
Any clause from an Australian subcontract or purchase order: payment terms, set-off, liquidated damages, time bars and notices, variations, retention, termination, releases, indemnities, insurance. Paste one clause at a time, with its sub-clauses, so the answer is about that clause.
Do you keep the clause I paste?
No. The text is sent to the model to be assessed and then discarded. We record only that a check happened, the type of clause and the verdict, so we can see which clauses worry subcontractors most.
How is this different from the full scan?
Clause Check reads one clause in isolation. Clauses work together: a short time bar matters more when the liquidated damages are uncapped, and a set-off clause depends on how payment is defined. The free scanner reads the whole subcontract, benchmarks every clause against the Australian Subcontract Index, applies your state's Security of Payment Act, and builds the email to send the builder.
Is this legal advice?
No. It is general information to help you understand a clause and know what to ask about. For a dispute or a high-value contract, get advice on your specific facts.
